Richard Day Research conforms to the Council of American Survey Research Organizations (CASRO) Code of Standards and Ethics for Survey Research, the European Society of Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR) Codes and Guidelines for Survey Research, the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) Code of Professional Ethics and Practices, The European Union Data Protection Directive, the Federal Trade Commission Fair Information Practice Principles, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Final Rule, the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act, and other privacy regulations and guidelines in the U.S. and abroad. Richard Day Research also abides by the principles in the Safe Harbor framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of data from the European Union.
Richard Day Research does not send unsolicited commercial emails. All survey invitations sent via email are consistent with the CASRO Code of Standards and Ethics for Survey Research. As part of our survey research process, we gather, aggregate, and analyze information from our panelists and survey respondents. We collect data in our studies for research purposes only, and our use of that information will be limited to that purpose. All responses to our research are completely confidential.
Research participation is voluntary and sample members always have the opportunity to decline involvement or to "opt out" of the research at any time. We do not collect personal information without research participant consent. All studies provide a toll-free contact number or an email address to decline participation.
We do not rent, sell or give personal information to any third party for the purpose of direct marketing. In some cases we may need to share personal information with third parties that provide research services in support of the research project. Any third party that receives personal information is obligated to follow all of the same privacy protection regulations as followed by Richard Day Research.
Richard Day Research is committed to protecting our clients' confidentiality. All employees are required to sign a non-disclosure agreement, and are thoroughly briefed and trained on an ongoing basis to honor this commitment. We treat all information we receive from clients as confidential and do not use the information for any purpose other than to fulfill our obligations to clients. We keep client information secure at all times.
Richard Day Research has implemented reasonable physical, technical and administrative safeguards to help protect personal information against unauthorized access or loss. These safeguards are reviewed quarterly, along with any conditions that our clients have in regards to data.
We employ standard technology and internal processes to protect the information. Additionally, only authorized employees have access to the databases that stores participant and client information.
Third parties that provide us with support or services do not receive personal information. We require them to maintain security measures similar to ours when dealing with any of our data.
As with most websites, we automatically gather information such as browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp and click stream data. This data is collected in the aggregate to ensure that our survey system/website are as compatible as possible to participants. The data also helps us with our marketing methods.
During a survey, we place a text file called a "cookie" in the browser files of your computer. The cookie itself does not contain personal information. It will tell us if you have already taken the survey, as well as at what point you stopped, if you would like to start up again at another time. A cookie cannot read data from your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites.
You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. If you've set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, you will receive the warning message with each cookie.
Richard Day Research complies with all applicable national and international children's privacy regulations. We do not collect any personal information from people under 18 years of age.
Though we make every effort to preserve privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law if we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our website. We would only release any such data after consulting with expert legal council on the matter.
